Donald O. Crick
Everyday Star

My Everyday Star is dedicated to Donald O. Crick (March 28, 1042 - October 17, 1989) in memory of all the EMS/Fire/Police volunteers who dedicated their live to serving our community. Don was a great role model and one of the first volunteers that I met early in my career as an ER nurse.

He impressed everyone with his kindness, compassion, and eagerness to help his community.  He was a charter member of the Cedar Canyons Volunteer Fire/EMS Department, and a 24 year veteran of the Allen County Sheriff Department.  He was active in his community as a Red Cross CPR instructor, and received a Bronze Star for heroism for life saving CPR performed on a citizen at the Courthouse.  Don was honored with an Indiana Sagamore of the Wabash Award. He served as a board member for the Indiana State EMS Commission.

Additionally, he was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, the Fort Wayne Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the St. Francis Jesters.  Don loved life, his family, and his community.  He was very humble and always made the sun shine brighter when he was around, as do our many volunteers who give of themselves 24/7 to promote the safety and well-being of our citizens and community.  The world is a better place because of the sacrifice and generosity of volunteers like Don Crick.
