Eleanor Marine
Everyday Star

Our community is blessed with an extraordinarily good philharmonic orchestra. That doesn't happen by chance...it's a concerted effort on the part of a host of people.  It started many years ago by a group of concerned citizen musicians, and continues today with the dedication of people like Eleanor Marine.

A board member of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic since 1972, Eleanor has served as its chairperson since 2006. Her expertise in raising funds has enabled the Philharmonic to maintain the high quality of its musicians, staff, events, and season performances.  She is committed to promoting the mission of the Philharmonic which is to inspire and foster a lifelong love of classical music through performance and education.  Eleanor is well aware how cultural excellence and diversity betters the live all who live in our community.

In addition to her passion for the Philharmonic, Eleanor has served in other volunteer positions for the Fort Wayne Parks Foundation; IPFW Community Advisory Council; Visiting Nurse Capital Campaign Committee; North River NOW Task Force; and Headwaters Park Alliance. She is the recipient of the 2011 Artie Award for Outstanding Arts Volunteer from Arts United, and is a former nominee for the Excellence in Leadership Award from the Foellinger Foundation.

Eleanor Marine exemplifies the true meaning of community volunteer. Because her real focus, her passion has always been with the Philharmonic, I have chosen to represent Eleanor's generosity and commitment by depicting her as the whole note surrounded and played by several instruments found in the orchestra.
